ok, i bit

I read The Last Song on the day before I came back to school from spring break. I had a day on the greyhound and I had never actually read a Nicolas Sparks book so I figured why not. I actually really liked it, possibly because I haven't read a "beach read" type book in a while so it was refreshing. I related to certain aspects quite a bit and i found myself crying at a number of parts. I'd definitely recommend it for a day read. I am going to see the movie this Friday and I hope I wont be too disappointed(I am always disappointed with movies if I've read the book prior to the movie) but I'm going to stick to my new strategy of thinking of books and movies as two completely different works. Well there's my shpeel on that subject. Hope all lis well with all.

if i were a celebrity playlist...

so I'm not done with finals week but I did have three today (yep hell day!) so I'm taking a bit of a breather right now...

Ever sense I discovered celebrity playlists on iTunes in 2004 (wow that seems forever ago) I have looked to some suggestions from "the stars" for music and they have not disappointed, without these playlists I would not know/ be later in knowing likes of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' - Maps(thanks Brandon Flowers, '04), Breathe Me by Sia(Maria Sharapova, '06) London Bombs by Eskimo Joe (thanks Carrie Underwood 08'), and Poison Cup by M. Ward( Paul Wesley/Ian Somerhalder, '09) to name a few. yeah definitely a fan of the celebrity playlists. So anyway back in '04 at the ripe old age of...12/13 i was inspired and formed my own "if i was a celebrity playlist" on my ipod, I've modified it a million times and at present a have about 45 songs on it which is probably waaaay too many but oh well music is amazing. So in the spirit of music I figured I'd share a small selection of my favorites...and here it goes....

Let Go - Frou Frou :::This was my absolute favorite song since I was 12 until i discovered that I really don't have a favorite, but it is obviously still on my list I like most people heard it first from Garden Stateand may i just say thank you thank you thank you to Zach Braf for introducing me to Imogen Heap

American Pie - Don Mclean::: the first million times I heard this song was on my family's player piano with the lyrics typed on the piano roll. This was my favorite of the rolls we had and from ages 3 to whenever i would run and dance around the living room coffee table to this song, so to say the least it makes me nostalgic.

Bonnie and Clyde - Serge Gainsbourg and Bridget Bardot ::: I actually discovered this song fairly recently and from the second i heard the beginning i literally stopped in my tracks. It was love at first note. I really don't know what else to say but if you have not heard, listen.

Rebellion(Lies) - Arcade Fire:::ok so I LOVE Arcade Fire so it was rather difficult figuring out what song to put on but as this was the first song I heard by them I had to choose it.

Tranquilize - The Killers feat. Lou Reed::: I'm not going to talk too much about The Killers, I've said too much in the past I suppose so long story short, I think they are genius. That being said I suppose I would say this is my favorite of their songs. The fact that Lou Reed is on the track as adds about 10 million cool points that it didn't need(I love Lou Reed!)

Sweet Disposition - The Temper Trap::: This song. Oh boy. Speechless. Conditions is such an amazing album...(I found it interesting they changed the music video for this, this link is to the new one).

If There's a Rocket, Tie Me To It - Snow Patrol::: Another band I had trouble picking a song from...Chocolate and Set the Fire To the Third Bar were definitely in contention as well.

Siren Song - Bat For Lashes::: Eh!! So difficult to choose! I'll just say all. I love Natasha Khan, she is simply incredible.

On the Bridge - Harry Gregson-Williams::: I just found out that this is not on iTunes which is a real shame. But yes ugh this piece is heartbreaking and the movie(Man on Fire) is incredible as well. The vocals completely make the song.

Heartbeats - Jose Gonzelez::: This is a cover, originally by The Knife, originally electronic... waaaay different than the original but oh so beautiful

so I promised myself that I wouldn't go over ten songs and I'll stick to that as I don't want to get to lengthy(though I've already met that) so yes enjoy, or don't, but let me know what you think. Any song suggestions are welcome!
