foxy sounds

Foxy Shazam
The Sounds

awesome concert at ucsb's Hub
200 people, maybe, if that.
It was great, about 10 feet away from Lola
Foxy Shazam...entertaining, a little(way) too cocky for their fame.
right next to the speakers, my ears are still recovering.

one of the worst clip's ever! sideways and all : )

O' Pioneer

Levi's these days, Levi's.
while i have always always loved Levi's(uh they are amazing and from SF)
they have been out doing themselves lately.
with this little video from their website

and to top it off the new Go Forth campaign by Ryan McGinley is so amazing.

i have seen the commercial about three times thus far and each time i feel so inspired i just want to have a pow-wow in the woods. then run through a meadow. than have a dip in the ocean.Props Levi's, Mad Props.
Go Forth! and live.

The Crypt-Kicker Five

so one thing that is very prominant here at ucsb is halloween.
everyone is in to it.
tons of people come from out for town.
iv is apparently crazy
and there are costumes galore
so, as i have never really had the chance to have an awesome costume i am going to take this opportunity to go for it.
so i've been thinking and these are a few of the top options i have come up with:

  • Natasha Khan(Bat for Lashes)-in the "Daniel" music video
  • Purple Platypus
  • Gambler
  • Carrot
  • Ping Pong table
well whats good about these costumes is hypothetically i could just go to american apparel and have a field day...but i am a poor college student so that is not going to happen. so its off to goodwill this weekend.

...better than none

unexpected lovelies

so, being only a baby college student I am still discovering all the awesome things about college. one thing though that I have discovered and love love love is those unexpected gifts from people I love. Two of my aunts have sent me little care packages, one with The Naked Roommate and another one today with jellybeans, an adorable sign pertaining to an inside joke, and those word magnets for the fridge. The best things are unexpected.

i wish i could understand myself so maybe people could understand me

away away away we go

So today I got back from class and I was still not feeling well so I decided to watch a movie, I originally was going to watch Strangers On a Train but Away We Go caught my eye and I figured I would see that as I have wanted to for months. So let me tell you, it was amazing. First of all Focus Features is a genius company, I have never seen a film that I have not loved and I was pretty sure I was not going to be disappointed this time.
The film, based on the adventures of a couple who go on a search for a home for their growing family, is a touching feel good film that combines tender moments, witty dialogue, and genuine characters . This road-trip of sorts does nothing but please, with and all-star cast John Krasinski, Maya Rodolph, , Jeff Daniels, Catherine O' Hara, Paul Schneider, not to mention a hilarious Allison Janney and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
This film made me think constantly throughout the corse about the importance of family and what a family actually is. A large factor in the film is the fact that the main couple are not married yet they have been together for many years and are having a child together. One of the final scenes gives the viewer a commitment that ensures one that the two will be together until death and that is really all you can ask for. Marriage is something that in a way attempts to "prove" commitment but a relationship that does not need to prove anything to anyone but those involved is just as strong. I am not going to lie and say that I don't want to get married when I am older but I'm also not going to lie and say that it would be mainly because I love weddings.
Away We Go gives you everything you anticipate and don't, it gives it all while it gives it's all. I am most definitely putting this on my "to buy" list as well as my favorite movie list. If I were Roger Ebert I would give it a thumbs up but that I am not so I will simply give it my love.
